what do you reckon people? have i missed anything that you'd be taking? do some things seem pointless? i really would appreciate thoughts cos it's not like i've really done anything like this before...
(please put any thoughs in comments below cos it's easier to find them on here than facebook when i come to pack!)
next up: what does one eat when walking 630 miles in 39 days when everything must be carried on ones back?
jin x
40 days to go... (really? oh. crap.)
Hmm this got me thinking..... Looks pretty good to me but here are my thoughts for what its worth.
ReplyDeletefacewipes, exfoliating mit, rosewater. stop being a girl.
First aid stuff, plasters etc. go very minimal and buy what you need along way/replace stuff as you use it. Try Tiger Balm its great for insect bites and nice to rub on sore muscles(bit like deep heat but not as harsh.
Add some sort of insect repellent to the list.
You missed out water bottle of some description.
Do you really need cooking facilities?? Buy hot food where its available and eat sandwiches, baguettes etc the rest of the time. If you do take it I would add a mug + tea/coffee.
Do you really need boots? If they are not warn in properly would good trainers would do the job?
Some sort of dry bag. For when it pisses down for a week and you need to keep iphone, sleeping bag and clothes dry. or to put wet tent in to keep evrything dry. Also really good for washing clothes in.
and just because i'm a boy I would recommend the biggest machete you can buy.
thanks for the thoughts!
ReplyDeletegood point on the dry bag, that prob should have been on there, esp since i have one and was planning on taking it.
gonna take cooking stuff cos hot food will be comforting, and though i'll be passing towns lots, sometimes i wont be passing so much/saves money when i do if i can cook up porridge rather than buying stuff that'll be a good alternative.
good recommendation on the tiger balm, hadn't thought of that.
water bottles - forgot to list platupus type thing, but also just gonna use mineral water bottles - lighter than rigid alternatives, and i can just buy water as i need.
i did think bout wearing trainers, but my ankles have been prone to weakness so i'd like a bit more support. i'm fairly confident i can get them worn in in time. ish.
You might also want a pen/paper and some cards to keep you sane if you lose civilisation for a couple of days or after you realise you've forgot your iphone charger :P
