day 29: logistics

so my friend emma was supposed to be joining us yesterday at salcombe. but she's an overworked nurse who overslept so then she was gonna join us at hallsands. but then one of our other friends was leaving cardiff to go and work in australia. so she had to go out but was gonna join us in dartmouth. then she got to bed at six in the morning and i thought she wouldn't be joining us at all. then she woke up at nearly three, got in the car and drove down to brixham, which is where we are tonight.

it turns out meeting up on the south west coast path can be quite tricky if plans have to be changed because there's big gaps between towns and only very patchy signal. but she made it. in the end.

despite walking a long day today, around twenty miles, i can't think of that much to say about it.

i think one of the most striking things was that i noticed that i now feel as tired at the end of a twenty miler as i did after our first few days of around fourteen miles. so i guess the walking is paying off.

i'm gonna leave you with gratuitous prettiness of the sky over slapton sands early this morning:

total milage is now 486.5, making it 21.5 miles again. it's crazy how they add up.
